Well over 300 people saw the first ever Roller Derby bout in the Western Suburbs last Saturday evening at RecWest Braybrook.

And what a way to welcome the sport to the west with the local side, WestSide Glory (Derby Dollz’ travel team), beating rivals the Diamond Valley Rough Cut Rollers in a close bout 193 to 178.

There was banked seating close to the action or suicide seats on the floor, for those wanting to live close to the edge. The crowd was entertained with a game full of excitement, tumbles and plenty of glitter while off the court there were market stalls, raffles, prizes and an abundance of amazing winter wonderland costumes.

“The RecWest Braybrook facility is the perfect location for our home bouts” said WestSide Derby Dollz Vice President, Sandra Marshall. “The amount of banked seating, the kiosk and other great facilities helped make our first home game (and future games) a great success.”

The WestSide Derby Dollz have a number bouts in the coming months and will host a massive double header in September at RecWest Braybrook. To find out more information about the Derby Dollz visit their facebook page.
