In case you missed it: the YMCA Father’s Day Fun Run

You might have heard the first ever YMCA Father’s Day Fun Run was held back on Sunday 4 September.

Held at the Tan in Melbourne’s CBD the event was enjoyed by families, friends and serious runners alike, and was suitable for all abilities.

Participants had two course options to choose from – the 5km or 10km run/walk, with many completing their course in fancy dress.

One participant, who walked the 5km with his two siblings, mum and dad, said, “Every Father’s Day, we do some sort of physical activity to celebrate it… We’re doing it for dad and it’s a great day for it!”

The highlight though came when participants were treated to the awesome Event Village. Delicious food trucks, an animal farm, bubble soccer, an Instabooth, arts and crafts and many other free activities were available on the day, making it the perfect way to spend Father’s Day for the whole family.

“We had a fabulous day and want to do it again next year. The volunteers were lovely. The organisation of the event was perfect,” said another participant.

“We felt really spoilt by all the free activities and free snacks in the village. The kids loved the smoothie bikes and sumo wrestling. We had such a fun day together.”

A big thank you to our event sponsors, Brooks, who gave a $50 voucher to each registered participant. Like our Facebook page to catch some more Brooks offers this holiday.

Special thanks to those participants who fundraised for the event’s cause: to help reduce the impact of mental health issues in young people - your contribution is greatly appreciated by the young people we help.

If this is a cause you care about, be sure to save the date for next year:
